3-Point Hitch

Harry Ferguson received a British patent for the 3-point hitch in 1926 (myFerg). He also patented a control value that was included in his first production tractor, which was made by the David Brown Company, the Ferguson Model 'A' (WikiTE20).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_factory and  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Dagenham: Agricultural vehicles were also an important element - at one point the Fordson represented 95% of UK tractor production.[

Ford began construction of its Model F Fordson tractor in 1917. He quit building the model F in 1928 because he lost interest in tractors and concentrated on cars (livingHistory). But in 1939 he partnered with Harry Ferguson with a handshake agreement to make tractors again. Harry designed the 3-point hitch and hydraulic system and the Ford engineers integrated his design with a design for a new model---9N. The Ferguson System was also used in the 2N design introduced in 1942. (oldford) The next model, 8N introduced in 1948, did not use Ferguson's system because Ford's grandson, Henry Ford II, had terminated the handshake agreement at the end of the war. (WidiN)

The name Massey Ferguson was coined in 1958 – a shortening of the name Massey-Harris-Ferguson. This company had been formed in 1953 after the merger of the famous North American company Massey Harris with Harry Ferguson Limited of England. (http://www.masseyferguson.us/about_us/mf-history/)
